fast weight loss

Playing Wii Sports not only helps you lose weight, but makes you shorter and your pants bigger. Suburbia at WiiNintendo.net began what he calls the "Wii Sports Experiment" in December. He blogs: One stray Wii-mote swing and six weeks later, Suburbia ended up nine pounds lighter, lost 2 percent of his body fat and lowered his heart rate! Which games dropped the most blubber? He burned an average of 92 calories during a 15 minute round of Wii Tennis and an impressive 125 calories with Wii BoxingZ in the same period. He also achieved "Pro" status in Tennis, Bowling, and Boxing. Well done. I'm guessing he actually was watching what he was eating (intentionally or not). Oh, and did some numbers myself for fun when it was released, numbers are for half an hour of each activity with full standing up and looking stupid motions! Sitting at desk / talking on phone / browsing web: 67 Kcal burnt 80 /106 heart rate (bpm avg / max) Playing Wii Sports Tennis - 2 players (1 v 1): 112 Kcal burnt 98 / 121 heart rate (bpm avg / max) Playing Wii Sports Tennis - 2 players (1 v 1): 112 Kcal burnt 98 / 121 heart rate (bpm avg / max) Playing Wii Sports Tennis - 2 players (vs computer): 99 Kcal burnt 96 / 112 heart rate (bpm avg / max) Playing Wii Sports Tennis - 2 players (1 v 1): 112 Kcal burnt 98 / 121 heart rate (bpm avg / max) I'm not really suprised at the results, but it's cool to see it actually can help one to loose weight.

what a load of BS. I've been doing something fairly similar over at theBBPS, only I'm a fat pig who's trying to stave off death. :) Heaven forbid someone lose some weight from moving and some good news on Nintendo's system! Shorter? BlindsidesDork: Did anyone deny that? I think some exercise is better than none but you wont get results like he's saying he got. I don't believe in it, it's probably some fanboy hype. What do you not "believe in"? That you use energy when you move your body? If he's losing weight playing Wii Tennis, maybe fast weight loss I should try to chart losing weight through whacking it.

The "workout" is about the same: all wrist movement. Unless this guy is totally awful at Tennis like most noobs and is really getting his shoulders into it. Okay, I don't get that comment. Are you telling us that you're a fucking toolbox? Playing Wii Tennis as if you were wanking is boring. You've got to get up and get into it to really have fun. I hate going to the gym, going for a jog, or my exercise bike because its too damn borning. That's fine, but don't expect the Wii to replace any of those. You might want to look into getting an iPod as well. :) I don't know about you, but I like to be good at gaming (which, by the way, I think is somewhat redundant - why do you want to be good at gaming? What's your gain here?), I play to have fun.

I wish you awesome gaming skills and no fun at all. but nothing that should give discernable results especially at 30 minutes a day. Most people in western countries exercise so little that even 30 minutes of boxing a day will make a difference if you do it instead of sitting on the couch with a traditional controller. Bowling, probably not so much. 30 minutes of waving around a controller makes a big difference. He appears to be in decent physical shape before he started this "program". 30 minutes for him would do nothing. It might get his heart rate up, but not long enough for him to burn any serious calories and that remote definitely isn't enough resistance to build any muscle.

Yes, but this guy isn't some obese sea cow who managed to stand upright. He appears to be in decent physical shape before he started and after, to make sure unconscious changes in eating habits weren't affecting the results (I've noticed in myself that when I exercise regularly, I have less of a desire to eat junk food). More people needed to participate to rule out normal fluctuations in weight. We also don't know if there was any additional exercise (people who workout regularly are more attractive and tend to have a higher sex drive, perhaps he was getting laid more).

@L_K_M: Yeah because being able to kick peoples asses at Wii Sports is only fun Oh, so you're one of these people. Playing isn't fun unless you win, huh? We have a Wii at home, and my 3-year old son gets a good workout from playing games. He's always jumping around, waving his arms around... he really gets into it. I think it's great that he's getting some exercise, and it gets him off the couch. Forgot your username or password?.
